𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐎𝐍 | 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐈𝐋𝐘 𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖𝐍
ᢁ᠋ 𝐊𝐎𝐂𝐇𝐎 𝐏𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐌𝐀𝐂𝐄𝐔𝐓𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐋𝐒… What had once been established as a small apothecary by Shizue's mother is now an international company that handles the manufacturing and distribution of traditional Far Eastern medicine and medical items. Originally, Shizue and her mother were of an offshoot clan of the Ejinn people but, in time, they eventually moved across the Ruby Sea to Kugane when a business opportunity arose. The pair took different names to better assimilate themselves in the new culture they were to live in from then onward.ᢁ᠋ 𝐏𝐄𝐂𝐔𝐋𝐈𝐀𝐑 𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄… Shizue is prone to wanderlust, often meandering from place to place in the pursuit of knowledge that pertains to her interests—the occult, history, alchemy, aetherology—when she isn't attending to the pharmacy and its needs, at least. She is a ghost amongst the crowds, pale-faced and abstracted, tending to keep to herself unless spoken to. However, if her curiosity is piqued, she is not unlike a moth drawn to a flame.ᢁ᠋ 𝐌𝐄𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐆𝐀𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐑… As an alchemist with a penchant for experimentation and an admirer of all things belonging to nature, Shizue can often be found scouring open fields and dense forests alike for medicinal herbs, flowers, and roots. As a result, her slender fingers end up dirt-covered from rooting around in soil or the hems of her skirts soaked from wading in rivers.ᢁ᠋ 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐅𝐀𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐄… A diminutive creature accompanies Shizue wheresoever she goes, its bewinged form drenched in a soft, pale glow akin to moonlight—you will recognize it to be a faerie. Her name is Isveig, and she has become the Xaela's perpetual companion. She is not shy in sharing her thoughts or opinions.

𝐔𝐍𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐎𝐍 | 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐐𝐔𝐈𝐓𝐄 𝐀𝐒 𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖𝐍ᢁ᠋ 𝐇𝐎𝐁𝐁𝐘 𝐅𝐈𝐒𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐖𝐎𝐌𝐀𝐍… Quaint as it may be considered, Shizue harbors a quiet fondness for both waterscapes and fishing. She is a pescatarian and, given the opportunity, she will take to rivers and oceans in her travels to source her own sustenance. Her journal keeps detailed accounts of all sorts of fish, where to find them, their preferred baits, and the times of day or night in which they are active.

𝐑𝐀𝐑𝐄 | 𝐒𝐈𝐓𝐔𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋
ᢁ᠋ 𝐄𝐌𝐏𝐀𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐂 𝐌𝐀𝐆𝐈𝐂𝐊𝐒… Though taciturn as she presents herself to be, Shizue is deeply in-tune with emotions of those around her. This is not a quirk that solely belongs to her, however. Rather, it is an innate talent inherited from her tribe as all members of the Setgel possess this peculiar sensitivity. Moreover, she commands both the knowledge and ability to wield memory and emotion altering magicks—though, like her people, she only seeks to utilize these magicks for altruistic purposes. Shizue does not openly speak of her abilities, but if she encounters individuals suffering from the maladies of the mind, she will extend a gentle offer to provide aid.

Deep within the cradle of the Azim Steppe, the Setgel tribe travels along the shores of the One River, its flowing waters their home and their source of sustenance. In years past, they had once been apart of the Ejinn before separating to pursue their own ideals; the sort that encompasses the domain of the mind. These nomadic people possess a particular attunement with the emotional and mental affairs of other intelligent beings, and they have developed magicks and rituals to bolster this attunement. The Setgel themselves are an odd collection of peoples that carry faraway gazes and distracted manners of speech, and a sort of gentle stupor envelops each and every one of them, as if they are a world apart from the others that might find themselves in their company. However, should any member of the Setgel be approached for help in navigating the matters of the mind, they will provide guidance without prejudice.
𝐇𝐎𝐒𝐏𝐈𝐓𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘… Despite the trials and tribulations the tribes of the Steppe often face—and the caution and distrust that arise as a result—the Setgel are compassionate creatures that will always provide aid to individuals who are not a part of them and theirs. This altruism also extends toward beasts and other similar creatures, and so it is not an altogether uncommon sight espying some odd creature or another situated inside a Setgel camp.𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐘… Although they are not strictly pacifists, they will rarely ever start a fight. They seek to keep the peace wherever and whenever they may, wishing to respect both the lands of the Steppe and its diverse peoples. They have never participated in the Naadam and they do not have any intention to do so.𝐂𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐍𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐒… The Setgel revere the One River. As they journey along its shores, their migratory paths and encampments are cleared of all debris possible and, regarding personal hygiene, they cleanse their bodies in the river waters after waking and before sleeping. Their penchant for keeping clean also extends toward spiritual well-being, and so they regularly utilize various rituals, often including incense smoke, to restore the vitality of themselves and their gers.

𝐌𝐄𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐘 & 𝐄𝐌𝐎𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍… The Setgel fill a niche role within the Steppe as soothers of the mind, as individuals that guide their peers through times of mental duress and emotional uncertainty. While their methods are primarily practical, they also incorporate magical techniques, shamanistic rituals, specially crafted incense, and herbal concoctions to better carry out their endeavors. The foremost objective in wielding this sort of ability is to provide aid and comfort, but there are also myriad other applications that the Setgel tend to turn their gazes away from.𝐂𝐑𝐄𝐏𝐔𝐒𝐂𝐔𝐋𝐀𝐑… Those belonging to the Setgel are neither diurnal nor nocturnal. Rather, they tend to rise when the sun is beginning to descend, and they thereafter attend their daily activities. As a result, they do not see much in the way of sunlight, and so their skintones tend to lean toward paler hues. If any particular member is asked why it is they follow this routine, they will answer that it is an optimal timeframe for fishing.𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐁𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐌… As a river-based tribe, the Setgel are known to dive deep into the waters of the One River or the Azim Khaat in order to harvest plants and roots that grow within the riverbed. From what is gathered, they create herbal remedies for various illnesses that they peddle to local tribes, while other plants—harvested from land—are typically dried and bundled, then utilized for rituals or ceremonies.𝐅𝐈𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆 & 𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐀𝐆𝐈𝐍𝐆… The foremost dietary staple of the Setgel is fish, and they use either their clawed hands or small spears to catch them. In addition to consumption, the Setgel hunt specific fish to utilize their various body parts and secretions—scales, skin, oils, organs—in products like medicines and toxins. Beyond fish, they also keep a small herd of karakul—both for wool and milk—and forage for wild-grown vegetation wheresoever they are able. They are particularly fond of a wide variety of berries; whichsoever ones they are able to gather.𝐌𝐔𝐒𝐈𝐂 & 𝐃𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐈𝐍𝐆… Musical instruments and dancing play a major part in rituals, ceremonies, and recreational purposes. The Setgel fashion their instruments from what is naturally found around them including the bones and intestines of fallen animals. Common instruments include flutes, frame drums, and horsehead fiddles. Their most favored instrument is the tsuur, and they enjoy playing it on the banks of the One River.𝐂𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐍𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐆… Twice daily, the Setgel cleanse their bodies within a section of the One River's waters that have been purified by the tribe's büge; once after waking and again before sleeping. In addition, all tools utilized in hunting are cleaned in those same waters and then laid out within their encampments to “rest” from taking the lives of prey. The Setgel also seek to keep their environs free of debris; as they travel, they gather wayward items and the like with the intent to reuse whatever might be repaired or repurposed.𝐎𝐈𝐋𝐒… As practiced herbalists, the Setgel apply their knowledge in crafting a specific oil. These oils are usually floral or earthy-scented and they are used expressly in maintaining the health and sheen of their skin, hair, and scales. Like the herbal remedies that they produce, the oils are peddled to other tribes.

𝐄𝐘𝐄𝐒… The most notable feature of the Setgel is their eyes: the soft gold of their irises and the silver luminescence of their limbal rings. In the darkness—either in the night of the Steppe or the deep waters of the One River—their eyes are reminiscent of stars.𝐒𝐊𝐈𝐍… With pale, ashy skintones that vary slightly from member to member, those of the Setgel are able to obscure themselves within the waters of the One River, blending in with the stones of the riverbed below.𝐇𝐀𝐈𝐑… The hair colors of the Setgel range from a dusky brown to a deep gray-brown while the texture retains straight, silken strands.𝐒𝐂𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐒… Dark as the night, with subtle violet undertones—their scales are a source of pride. They are diligently cared for to preserve their luster.𝐇𝐎𝐑𝐍𝐒 & 𝐓𝐀𝐈𝐋𝐒… The horns of a Setgel tribe member are usually thin and tapered, and their tails often complement them in appearance.𝐓𝐄𝐄𝐓𝐇 & 𝐂𝐋𝐀𝐖𝐒… Both their teeth and their claws are markedly sharp, and they are maintained to be so in order to disable prey in the absence of tools.𝐋𝐔𝐍𝐆𝐒… As relatives of the Ejinn tribe, the Setgel have increased lung capacity in order to store and compress large amounts of oxygen. With this, they are able to be submerged within water for an extended period of time.

Hello! Thanks for taking a look at Shizue's carrd. If you would like to know a little more about the player, I've included some information below. Some tidbits about myself:
🗶 My name is Sen and my Discord is ghosthallow.
🗶 You're welcome to say hi, if you want.
🗶 I am in the EST timezone.
🗶 I enjoy crocheting and scratching behind my cat's ears.
🗶 I like to read almost anything related to spiritualism, ritualism, the paranormal, and how all three have had an influence on humanity.
🗶 I use Mare! I am open to swapping keys if I get to know you. Some tidbits about myself as an RPer:
🗶 I tend to either semi-para or launch into full prose when I RP, but I will also reflect what is being sent to me. However, I will not accept single-liners with no substance; that really just isn't fun.
🗶 I am a 21+ RPer and I require that my writing partners and their characters are the same.
🗶 In roleplay, I want to write characters interacting with one another naturally; I want to see emotion, how it unfolds, how the characters react to what is happening to them and around them.
🗶 To achieve that, see below what I prefer to RP:
I'll RP…
🗶 Plot-driven stories
🗶 Horror/dark themes
🗶 Mature themes
🗶 Adventure (plot-influenced)
I won't RP…
🗶 Excessive gore
🗶 ERP
🗶 Persistent slice-of-life
🗶 Persistent combat
